Childbirth is the most difficult, and at the same time the most beautiful moment in most women's lives. It is an enormous effort for the whole organism. However, medical assistance is required, thanks to which you can monitor the course of labor and intervene in the event of any abnormalities. Otherwise, the help of specialists allows you to relieve labor pain, which is a significant convenience for a woman.
Childbirth involves uterine contractions, which cause, that the fetus is pushed out of the mother's body and can start an independent life. This process occurs at the moment, when the child's body is ready to function in the outside world. Then the membranes are ruptured, and the baby breaks free and has to travel the tiring journey through the cervix and the woman's vagina, to be able to appear among us. Due to contractions and the natural expansion of the cervix, giving birth is an extremely painful experience. It is also painful for the baby to pass through the vagina, which must expand like this, so that the baby's body can pass through it. In effect, it often breaks.
Luckily, today's knowledge of gynecology and obstetrics allows to reduce the pain experienced during childbirth. Primarily, it is possible to administer an epidural, which temporarily paralyzes the lower parts of the body, minimizing pain. However, it is met with disapproval, because, as experts admit, childbirth under anesthesia, though it is less painful, it can be more difficult - the woman is not able to recognize natural reflexes and does not know, when and how to push, to help your baby come into the world. It is more difficult, so cooperation of the mother in labor with the doctors assisting in childbirth. Otherwise, there are a number of relaxation techniques, which increase the comfort of childbirth. Water delivery turns out to be less painful, because it allows the muscles of the uterus and perineum to relax better. Many women prefer to give birth in a squatting position. Additionally, some doctors allow the use of laughing gas, which makes you feel better and helps you get through childbirth.
